Drips And Runs: Live At Relentless No 5 (28 Sept 2016)
This is a photo story of my visit to a Drips And Runs live painting event. I’ve watched their live-stream on the net but this time I was there in person.
This mission: six artists painting a collaborative work in approximately 2 1/2 hours with some cool music (or sick tunes) to enjoy the vibe.
On the pens and brushes: Himbad, Capt Kris, Si Mitchell, Skeleton Cardboard, The Real Dill and Saki&Bitches. On the “decks” is artist and DJ SeedsOne.
An audience of fans assemble in a small Soho bar to enjoy the magic being created before our eyes. Mostly, I’ll let the pictures tell the story. Oh, I must tell you this first. We were all searched on the way in for pens! Did they think we would all want to join in…?
We have no idea what the work will be but we are big fans these artists’ work.
The first marks are made by Si Mitchell and Capt Kris with Skeleton Cardboard watching…
The Real Dill finds his spot on the right hand side.
Ain’t technology great. All you need these days is your phone to stream an event like this. Si Mitchell, Capt Kris and The Real Dill…
I wonder what those two black blobs will be, down in the left hand corner?
They’re Skeleton Cardboard’s signature dancing skeletons.
And its Himbad! With his blue cat disguise. Oooh, is that spot for him?
But Himbad gets to work down on the left between the two heads of Si Mitchell and Capt Kris. So who’s in the middle then?
And Saki&Bitches arrives! “Shall I go there?” she points.
Is she asking The Real Dill what she should draw? Its all a bit laddish isn’t it?
First clear glimpse of what Himbad’s been up to.
You’ll see what he wrote later but Himbad is writing on the tombstone as Saki&Bitches banters with him.
Eyes within eyes. Himbad’s 4-eyed creature is one of the eyes of The Real Dill’s slime monster.
Five of the six artists at work. Skeleton Cardboard, Himbad, Capt Kris, Saki&Bitches and The Real Dill. While the fans record their every move.
Its all about the detail…
Is this a little tribute to the fabulous Six1Six from Himbad?
Time for a bop.
A rare moment when all 6 artists are working at the same time.
And now The Real Dill starts blacking in the background.
I love the purple highlights.

Final painting from artists Himbad, Si Mitchell, Capt Kris, Saki&Bitches, The Real Dill and Skeleton Cardboard. (DripsAndRuns, Live at Relentless No5, 28th Sept 2016)
DripsAndRuns are a collective of artists who make art and live stream it on the internet. They are self-funded and it is possible to support them by donating via their website.
Fascinating.
Love the idea of the art being the process of creation rather than the creation itself. Like listening to music.
Thanks Sarah. It is a really fun experience and then when you see just how much they accomplished in such a short space of time…
