  • New Year’s Eve 2012 was beautifully sunny in London.  And it had been suggested to me that I explore the annual Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park.  I went primarily to photograph the ice rink but it was impossible to see it without buying a ticket.  The first thing I noticed was how Hyde Park remains ravaged after a summer of rock concerts and Olympic Events.

Winter Wonderland was heaving.  I nudged my way through the hordes of people who were dawdling through the endless narrow corridors of food stalls and gift shops. No wonder it was free to enter it!  There was little else except a few fairground rides plus the ice skating.  I tried a few shots but there was always a pole or hut blocking my view.  This is my favourite of the few I took.

I didn’t stay long  but as I was leaving I looked back because the light was amazing.  The sun was setting and I caught these two shots.

Its a short set but sometimes, less is more.  Happy New Year everyone.  Thanks again for stopping by.

NB. And for the photographers – none of these shots have been enhanced or tweaked in Photoshop.  All created by using the light on the day.
